What’s wrong with the planning profession

November 26, 2018

During a recent conversation with a new prospective client of our firm Integrated Planning & Wealth Management, the individual shared a story that I felt compelled to share regarding his interaction and experience with another member of the financial services profession. I’m specifically not labeling him as a “financial planner” because, based on my limited knowledge of the situation, I don’t know whether this advisor actually engaged clients in a planning process.

From what the prospective client told me, this individual seemed more concerned with how much money he (our prospective client) had to invest rather than understanding what was important to him as an individual and what advice and value he was looking to gain from working with a financial planner.

Bottom line: know that there is a whole community of financial planners around the country that WILL and are EAGER to work with young professionals in his situation and with his set of circumstances. To learn more, visit the XY Planning Network to learn more.

(Full disclosure, I am a member of the XY Planning Network but have received no incentive or compensation for this post and link to their website. I’m just passionate about helping as many people as possible find good, quality financial advice with as few conflicts of interest as possible).
