Welcome to this episode of 20/20 Money! This week’s episode is my guest appearance on IDOC’s “Eye Own a Business” podcast hosted by Dr. Steve Vargo.
Before we jump into today’s episode, I just want to personally say thank you to every single listener that came up to me at IDOC Connection and shared that you’re a listener and supporter of 20/20 Money. I was blown away at how many of you came up and said hi, said how much you liked the podcast, how much it’s helped you, shared great feedback (such as “just hit record, don’t talk to guests before you hit record!”…you know who you are!), and the conversations that followed. Those of you that listen on your walk to the gym and/or while working out, getting ready in the morning, on your commute to/from the office…wherever and however you consume the show, thank you so much.
From day one the goal of the show was to have positive impact at scale in the profession of optometry and to provide knowledge, resources, perspectives, and most importantly actionable ideas to help ODs run intentional practices and help them live their best life on purpose and this event just reaffirmed that we’ve not only succeeded in that…but we’ve only just begun to have the impact that we can have. Sincerely and humbly, I profoundly thank you for all of the conversations that I had and I hope you had just as much of an enjoyable and productive IDOC meeting as I did!!
Steve had me on the show to talk about the relationship between business and personal goal planning and how related they are to one another. We talk about the importance of asking “why” before asking “how,” why it’s important to be specific when visualizing your goals, the importance of being intentional with your time and why practice owners are reluctant to delegate various responsibilities in their personal and professional lives.
