John Bohnsack

CFP® Wealth Advisor

John Bohnsack grew up on a farm in rural North Dakota that has been in his family since 1870—an experience that taught him the value of hard work, risk-taking, and the realities of running a small business.

Before joining Integrated Planning & Wealth Management, John worked at a large financial planning firm in College Station, Texas, where he partnered with approximately 80 clients—most of whom were retired—with net worths ranging from $1M to $20M. This experience provided him with invaluable perspective as he helps clients prepare for retirement.

John has held the CFP® designation since 2011. In 2019, he was recognized by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) with the New Professional Award for his influence in both professional and volunteer roles within the Fee-Only Financial Planning community. His advice and thought leadership have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, and the widely followed Nerd’s Eye View blog.

In addition to his work as a financial planner, John contributes to the profession as a speaker, writer, and part-time adjunct faculty member in the Financial Planning Program at Texas A&M University.

John’s wife, Melissa, is a manager in the Financial Aid Department at Texas A&M University and is currently pursuing her doctorate. Together, they have two daughters who are active in Girl Scouts, swimming, orchestra, and dance. Outside of work and family life, John enjoys reading, playing chess, preparing for triathlons, and serving on the board of the Brazos Valley Symphony.

John is passionate about the transformative power of great financial planning—it made a profound difference in his own life, and he’s committed to delivering that same level of impact to others.
